Smith's Jazz Legacy will perform at the Modern Drummer Festival
2006 in September.
The Modern Drummer Festival 2006 with take place at the
New Jersey Performing Arts Center
September 16-17 from 12 noon to 8 pm each day. Steve
Smith's Jazz Legacy will close the show at 6 pm on Sunday,
September 17. In addition to Steve on drums, the Jazz Legacy band line-up will be
Andy Fusco (Buddy Rich/Mel Lewis) on alto sax, Walt Weiskopf (Buddy Rich/Steely Dan) on tenor and soprano saxes,
Mark Soskin (Sonny Rollins/Herbie Mann) on piano and Baron Browne (Jean-Luc Ponty/Billy Cobham) on bass.
Steve Smith's Jazz Legacy is dedicated to performing music honoring great drummers of jazz and carrying on in the tradition of many of the great drummer-led jazz bands; communicating with music lovers of all generations, striving for excellence and playing non-compromising, burning, straight-ahead jazz.
The entire MD Festival will be filmed and recorded by Hudson Music for a DVD release.
